CVC and EMMA Capital win tender for Packeta
CVC, a global private equity firm, and EMMA Capital have signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Packeta, s.r.o., the parent of the leading Czech logistics company Zásilkovna.cz. The current owners of the company chose the offer submitted by the CVC-EMMA consortium in a tender running since the spring of this year.
Both shareholders have agreed to split their shareholdings 65:35 in favour of CVC. The two partners will then participate jointly in the company’s future management. A minority equity investment by the Czech group R2G is anticipated within CVC’s stake; this will not affect EMMA Capital’s share, which will remain at 35%.
Jakub Čanda, Senior Managing Director at CVC says: “We are pleased that our bid to acquire Packeta was successful. We deeply appreciate what the existing management has managed to build effectively from zero to what Packeta is today. We are also hopeful that, together with our partners from EMMA Capital, who know the Czech and Slovak market well and who also successfully manage other logistics companies in Europe, we can provide new impetus to Zásilkovna to the benefit of its customers, employees as well as shareholders.”
EMMA Capital’s Investment Director, Pavel Horák, adds: “By combining the investment strength and reputation of CVC with our experience in the industry, the entire Zásilkovna project can step up from its position as the Czech and Slovak number one and become a very significant player on the European market.”
The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the European Union’s competition authorities. The seller and the buyer have agreed that the purchase price will remain confidential.
